Nathaniel Hawkins is a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC and holder of the Dr. Charles Kerr Distinguished Scholar in Heart Rhythm Management.
He completed medical school and Internal Medicine residency at Edinburgh University, before undertaking his Doctorate of Medicine research degree in heart failure at Glasgow University.

He moved to Liverpool for cardiology and fellowship training in device therapy. Concurrently, he completed a Masters of Public Health focusing on the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease, population modelling, and health systems. He holds dual training and certification in Heart Function and Heart Rhythm management, providing an innovative perspective on the integration of technology with chronic disease management. He is now an Assistant Professor at UBC in British Columbia. His research is focused on improving quality of life and outcomes for patients with heart failure, by addressing comorbidities, using implantable and external devices, remote monitoring, and improving systems of care.
