Dr. Wing was the Program Director, Adult Foot and Ankle Reconstruction fellowship from 2012 until 2016. Dr. Kevin J. Wing graduated from the UBC in 1999 as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC). He then went on to complete three fellowships in the Foot and Ankle Surgery: one at UBC, the second at University of Washington, and the third at the Mayo Clinic.

He joined St Paul’s Hospital and the UBC Department of Orthopaedics in 2001. He is currently appointed as a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at UBC. He is a full-time academic adult foot and ankle surgeon, and a founding member of the Canadian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society research team evaluating the outcomes from the surgical treatment of end-stage ankle arthritis. He is an orthopaedic surgeon for the Footbridge Clinic. Dr. Wing has had a long-standing interest in how we evaluate patients’ health states both before and after foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Wing, along with his co-authors, has numerous publications exploring the change in self-reported outcome for patients undergoing foot and ankle surgery. These clinically relevant studies have had an impact at the local, national, and international level. Dr. Wing has twice been a co-author on studies receiving the Roger Mann award from the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, a top award for clinical research in foot and ankle care. Dr. Wing has collaborated with Dr. Jason Sutherland, also n Advancing Health Scientist, on numerous peer reviewed publications, many of which carefully explore how patient reported outcomes can help us better understand the patient experience during their episode of surgical care. Dr. Wing was the physician project lead on the BC Wait Time Initiative for Orthopaedic Surgery, funded by the Specialist Service Committee of BC through a competitive submission process. Wing has carried out clinical bedside teaching for medical students, orthopaedic residents, and fellows for the last 18 years.
