Dr. Farinaz Havaei is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) School of Nursing and a recent recipient of a Michael Smith Health Research Scholar Award (2021-2026).
Dr. Havaei completed her nursing PhD from UBC where she received an Outstanding Dissertation Award for her research (2017) on nursing models of care delivery. During her PhD studies, Dr. Havaei earned a sub-specialty in Measurement, Evaluation and Research Methodology from UBC School of Educational Psychology where she learned advanced psychometrics and data analytics skills.
Read Less Read MoreThe overarching aim of Dr. Havaei’s research program is to improve the workplace psychological health and safety of the nursing workforce, the largest health human resource in Canada, by optimizing workforce and patient outcomes in one of the most vulnerable healthcare sectors — long-term care. Her research utilizes mixed methods and an integrative knowledge translation approach that involves long-term care providers (e.g. nurses), residents and family members, administrators, policy makers and advocacy organizations.
