The importance of storytelling to reducing stigma towards persons in the criminal legal system.

Storytelling is recognized as an effective method to reducing stigma towards persons who experience discrimination related to substance use and the criminal legal system. Stories can be told many ways, through theatrical performances, podcasts, written works, and photographs. This event will bring together persons with lived experience and allies; Rosemary Green, Pam Young, Nyki Kish, Patrick Keating and John Chipman who are working to reduce stigma through storytelling. Tonye Aganaba will moderate a discussion among panelists that identifies the challenges to telling stories in custodial settings, and answer audience questions related to their respective storytelling work.
