Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)

Principal Investigator: Dr. Rick Sawatzky

Dr. Rick Sawatzky is a Canada Research Chair in Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). His program of research examines the use of assessment tools to bring the patient’s perspective into health care decision-making. PROMs are measured through the use of questionnaires on various aspects of a patient’s health, including symptoms, psychological, social, and spiritual or existential wellbeing. Dr. Sawatzky is investigating the development, use, and evaluation of PROM instruments and systems, and which measures are appropriate for different clinical contexts, to inform hospital and community-based care for those with chronic illnesses.
