JUNE 25, 2014 – CHÉOS Scientist Dr. Steve Mathias and the staff at the PHC Inner City Youth Program have received the 2014 Top Innovation – Affiliate Award from the Health Employers Association of British Columbia.

The Inner City Youth Program treats homeless and tenuously housed youth and young adults aged 16 to 24 with undiagnosed or untreated mental illness and/or addiction. The program aims to improve health outcomes for this vulnerable population by providing youth with access to health care, housing, education, employment counselling, vocational training, and support services. Dr. Mathias and his team are an interdisciplinary team providing a comprehensive care experience.

The award is for a best practice or project that has contributed fresh ideas or superior problem solving skills to health care, resulting in positive, lasting change. Recipients use best practices, demonstrate tangible results, and continually seek improvement.

The Inner City Youth Program team were recognized on June 23 at the annual Excellence in B.C. Health Care Awards ceremony. Congratulations!
